Helsinki Wolverines had no chance to win the championship as the Trojan 20 to 21-year-olds beat them 55-0 (28-0) in the finals. Only 3 touchdowns were scored against our boys the entire season.
Please leave your valuables with this guy. The safest place in the world is between Sami Toivonen’s hands.
The Wolverines fumbled the ball on their very first play. Trojan quarterback Danny Andersson delivered the ball to WR Ville Vene, who happily frolicked to the end zone. Kicker Miko Ylikoski engineered a point-after on top of that and the score was 7-0.
"He's a man with a mission, a boy with a gun". Danny Andersson only packs live ammo.
The visitors were visibly nervous and made a number of mistakes in the beginning of the game. The Trojans were keen to take advantage of them: Danny Andersson’s 20 or so yard QB keep TD and Ville Vene’s 30-yard catch in the end zone secured a 21-0 lead with successful PATs.
Ville-Valtteri Suojanen’s interception put an end to the Wolverines’ attempt at retaliation. The visitors’ defense did a good job and finally succeeded in stopping a Trojan offense. Things seemed to pick up a bit for them in the 2nd quarter, but any celebration was premature. The Trojans got their groove back and let Danny Andersson solo the ball to the end zone. Halftime score was 28-0.
If you want to see someone run so fast his feet can’t keep up, we suggest you check out Ville Järviö.
The Trojans carried on playing tough ball in the 3rd quarter. RB Ilkka Koiranen caught a short pass midfield and ran all the way to the scoring area. Ylikoski kicked the ball in for 35 to zilch, but that was the last of the scoring until the 4th quarter unlocked a treasure chest of touchdowns for the Trojans to grab. Ville Järviö worked hard all game and was finally rewarded with a touchdown. Soon after WR Mikko Rannikko was seen smiling in the end zone after catching a long bomb by Danny Andersson. Rannikko made the day perfect with an interception.
This baby here is an interception by Ville-Valtteri Suojanen! An interception, you heard me right. Yeah, the other guys in the picture can’t believe it either.
The final points in the league were scored by RB Jaska Salminen. He stormed the end zone while Mr. Plough, RB Sami Toivonen, was ploughing the way ahead of him. The point-after snap went right above the holder, but kicker Miko Ylikoski caught the ball in an attempt to take it in for a two-pointer. He in turn was caught by a defensive player, so he lateraled the thing to Ville Vene, who dodged several bullets on his way to the end zone. Two bad there was an offensive holding and the dramatic two-point conversion wasn’t good. The game ended 55-0 and the Trojan celebration could begin.
Sami Toivonen and Ilkka Koiranen (behind) think that some folks could use a shower around here.
The team coaches Antti Palmroos and Pauli Ojanen got splashed with bucketfuls of drink as the excited champions celebrated their victory. Sami Toivonen and Ville Järviö were nominated the best Trojan players of the game, the latter also being the Most Valuable Player of the game. The young Trojans’ head coach Kamran Osman wanted to thank especially the service crew for their continuing efforts. The general manager Kim Grönlund reminded the players that a banquet on the house was to be expected.
The 2008 champions. Congrats!
Head coach Kamran ”Kami” Osman is so blinded by the shine and glitter of gold that he needs to wear giant shades.
